Description
Cheese type: Territorial, hard/semi-soft, bloomy rind
Maker: Trethowan brothers
Country/region: UK, Somerset, Weston-Super-Mare, Hewish
Milk: Cows, Unpasturised, Not vegetarian
Taste:
A relative newcomer to the traditional West Country Farmhouse Cheddar world, Pitchfork takes it’s name from the Trethowan borther’s habit of using (clean!) pitchforks to turn the curd. It definitely works – this cheddar is a stupendously good cheese, with fruity, grassy and punchy flavours in abundance.
So good it won a Super Gold at the World Cheese Awards last year.
