Selling the best cheeses and accompaniments from across the UK & and beyond, at markets in the South West, from a beautiful vintage H van!

Cheesey time again! It's a four counties Cheese fo Cheesey time again! It's a four counties Cheese for the Weekend Board this week, after a week away (sorry about that!)

Lots of you have been asking for Caerphilly lately, so welcome back to the counter an old favourite, Gorwydd Caerphilly: a cheese that takes your taste buds on a wonderful journey from the velvety rind (please tuck in, it really is the best bit!) to the more flaky and lactic middle.

A lockdown superstar next, with Blyton, made down the road in Cranborne. Unctuously rich and oozing, it doesn't hang about for long when it's this good!

Another local one, and a recent discovery in St Ella, a young Crottin-style goat's cheese from Wiltshire. Dense and layered with grassy, floral notes, it has a hint of the piquancy that Crottin are known for, without letting it overwhelm the more complex flavours. ('Crottin' is supposed to be an old word for 'droppings' in the regions dialect - chosen for their diminutive size and powerful taste and smell!)

Last up is a classic Stilton - now you've all had a chance to get heartily tired of Broccoli Soup, it's time to tuck into a fresh piece and rediscover just how fantastic this cheese really is!

Cracked Black Pepper Cracker Bakes spice things up and plummy Damson Fruit for Cheese adds a little sweetness to finish off the board.

We've got a couple of new cheeses on this week's C We've got a couple of new cheeses on this week's Cheese for the Weekend Board, joining some of your favourites.

First up is Chedworth, from @kingstonedairy. Smooth and a little flaky, this new territorial has a light, slightly salty, slightly sharp flavour reminiscent of Wensleydale or Cheshire.

Pennard Red, from @somersetcheesecompany, is a beautifully golden goat's cheese. That colour comes from Annatto, a natural colouring made from the seeds of the Achiote tree. It adds a little sweetness to the cheese.

Pitchfork, from @trethowanbrothers is already an iconic cheddar. Buttery and tangy with a satisfying but not overpowering 'bite'.

Pave Cobble is this week's softy, from @whitelakecheese. Super-gooey under the rind but with a fresh, crumbly centre and a sweet lactic flavour, it's a winner on the wholegrain crispbreads with a dollop of @mrspicklepot chilli jam!

If you hadn't noticed, it's valentines day soon. We're closet romantics at heart so we love the story behind the classic Coeur de Neufchatel. With the young men of the village heading off to war, the women created cheeses in the shape of a heart for their loved ones.
The village priest was less than impressed, and tried to convince everyone that the cheeses were actually in the shape of angels wings, but his story didn't take and cheese lovers have enjoyed the soft, gentle hearts ever since.
